Inspection Welcome Message

On behalf of the UCLA Capital Programs Inspection Dept., I would like to welcome you to the Inspection website. This website was developed in an effort to allow us to better track, compile, and organize the inspection process.

The website has an interface for the contractor to initiate the process by requesting an inspection for an established project. The inspector has an interface that allows the inspection request to be answered digitally on the spot and posted back to the website. The project manager/construction manager also can interface the site to see how inspections are progressing for their respective projects.

This tool improves the construction process, and will move construction to completion with fewer delays and a smoother flow of work. It will allow the inspector to communicate observations, acceptance, or rejection of specific items required for job completion. It will allow the team to document and track how discrepancies were resolved and what has been accepted and is ready to cover or move forward with. It will also provide the contractor a real time tracking of outstanding issues.

The UCLA Building Permit lists numerous potential inspections that may be required for any project. There may be other inspections required for a project depending on the specific scope of the job. Each project will have a lead inspector assigned to it; it will be the responsibility the lead inspector, construction manager, and contractor to establish the specifics so accurate job documentation can be made.

UCLA is constantly building toward a bigger and brighter future. Like the entire faculty, staff and students, we at Capital Programs are very proud of our association with this great institution. We are responsible for millions of dollars in construction and remodel annually. It is our highest priority that the integrity and safety of our infrastructure be held to the highest standards so the mission of the university can always be met.

With Best Regards,

Nathan Carrillo,
Chief Inspector
